Android vs Ios

                                 ANDROID VS IOS
Android:-
Android is a Mobile Operating System(OS) based on the Linux Kernel and currently developed by Google. With a user interface based on direct manipulation, Android is designed primarily for touch screen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers, with specialized user interfaces for televisions (Android TV), cars (Android Auto), and wrist watches (Android wear)touch inputs that loosely correspond to real-world actions, like swiping, tapping, pinching, and reverse pinching to manipulate on-screen objects, and a Virtual keyword. Despite being primarily designed for touchscreen input, it also has been used in game consoles digital cameras, and other electronics.

History:-
Android, Inc. was founded in Palo Alto, California in October 2003 by Andy Rubin (co-founder of Danger),Rich Miner (co-founder of Wildfire Communications, Inc.),Nick Sears(once VP at T-Mobile), and Chris White (headed design and interface development at web Tv) to develop, in Rubin's words "smarter mobile devices that are more aware of its owner's location and preferences".The early intentions of the company were to develop an advanced operating system for digital cameras, when it was realized that the market for the devices was not large enough, and diverted their efforts to producing a smartphone operating system to rival those of Symbianand Windows Mobile.Despite the past accomplishments of the founders and early employees, Android Inc. operated secretly, revealing only that it was working on software for mobile phones. That same year, Rubin ran out of money. Steve Perlman, a close friend of Rubin, brought him $10,000 in cash in an envelope and refused a stake in the company.

Applications:-
Android has a growing selection of third party applications, which can be acquired by users either through an app store such as Google Play or the Amazon Appstore, or by downloading and installing the application's APK file from a third-party site.Google Play Store allows users to browse, download and update applications published by Google and third-party developers, and the Play Store client application is pre-installed on devices that comply with Google's compatibility requirements and license the Google Mobile Services software. The client application filters the list of available applications down to those compatible with the user's device, and developers may restrict their applications to particular carriers or countries for business reasons.Purchases of unwanted applications can be refunded within 15 minutes of the time of download, and some carriers offer direct carrier billing for Google Play application purchases, where the cost of the application is added to the user's monthly bill.

Market Share:-
Research company Canalyst estimated in the second quarter of 2009 that Android had a 2.8% share of worldwide smartphone shipments.By the fourth quarter of 2010 this had grown to 33% of the market, becoming the top-selling smartphone platform, overtaking Symbian.By the third quarter of 2011 Gartner estimated that more than half (52.5%) of the smartphone sales belonged to Android.By the third quarter of 2012 Android had a 75% share of the global smartphone market according to the research firm IDC.At the end of 2013, over 1.5 billion Android smartphones have been sold in four years since 2010,making Android the most sold phone and mobile OS, smartphone or not. Three billion Android smartphones are estimated to be sold by the end of 2014 (including previous years.

IOS:-

iOS (previously iPhone OS) is a mobile operating system developed by Apple Inc. and distributed exclusively for Apple hardware. It is the operating system that powers many of the company'siDevices
Originally unveiled in 2007 for the iPhones it has been extended to support other Apple devices such as theiPad Touch (September 2007),iPad(January 2010), iPad Mini(November 2012) and second-generationAppleTV onward (September 2010). As of June 2014, Apple's App Store contained more than 1.2 million iOS applications, 500,000 of which were optimized for iPad. These apps have collectively been downloaded more than 60 billion times. It had a 21% share of thesmartphone mobile operating system units shipped in the fourth quarter of 2012, behind Google's Android. By the middle of 2012, there were 410 million devices activated.According to the special media event held by Apple on September 12, 2012, 400 million devices had been sold by June 2012.
The user interface of iOS is based on the concept of direct manipulation, using Multi Touch Gestures Interface control elements consist of sliders, switches, and buttons. Interaction with the OS includes gestures such as swipe, tap, pinch, and reverse pinch, all of which have specific definitions within the context of the iOS operating system and its multi-touch interface. Internal accelorometer are used by some applications to respond to shaking the device (one common result is the undo command) or rotating it in three dimensions (one common result is switching from portrait to landscape mode).

History:-
Apple Inc. provides updates to the ios operating system for the iPhone, iPad, and ipod Touch through iTunes, and since iOS 5.0, also through over-the-software updates. With the June 6, 2011 announcement of iOS 5.0, a USB connection to iTunes is no longer needed to activate iOS devices; data synchronization can happen automatically and wirelessly through Apple's iCloud service. The most recent update, iOS 8.0.2, fixed many bugs.

Applications:-

The App Store is a digital distribution platform for mobile apps on iOS, developed and maintained by Apple Inc. The service allows users to browse and download applications that were developed with Apple's iOS SDK. The apps can be downloaded directly to an iOS device, or onto a personal computer via iTunes (also developed and maintained by Apple Inc.). The "App Store" is not the only app store available, with there being other well-known app stores for Android, Windows Phone, and BlackBerry 10.
Applications in "The App Store" are targeted at iOS devices, including iPhones and iPads, and may make use of specific attributes of those devices, such as motion sensors for game controls and cameras for online video calling. Apps may be downloaded for free or for a set cost, and they may include in-app monetization (costs levied through buyable features and/or advertising). Apple takes 30 percent of all revenue generated through apps, and 70 percent goes to the app's publisher.

Market Share:-

The usage share of operating systems is the percentage market share of the operating systems used in computers. Different categories of computers use a wide variety of operating systems, so the total usage share varies enormously from one category to another.
In certain categories, one family of operating systems dominates, for example, most desktop and laptop computers use Microsoft Windows while most super computers  Linux. In other categories, such as smartphones and servers, there is more diversity. Data about operating system share is difficult to obtain, since in most categories there are few reliable primary sources or agreed methodologies for its collection
